Drug Uses -
Allegra is taken to relief the symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis in adults and children 6 years of age and older. Sneezing, rhinorrhea, itchy nose/palate/throat, itchy/watery/red eyes are treated effectively.
How Taken -
Allegra is a capsule or tablet to be taken orally with a full glass of water twice a day, in the morning and the evening. Follow the prescription carefully.
Warnings/Precautions -
You should take Allegra if you are allergic to it. Consult with your doctor if you experience heart, kidney, or liver disease. You may need special dosage or monitoring. Allegra is in the FDA pregnancy category C. There is no reliable data whether Allegra is deleterious to an unborn baby. Consult with your doctor if you are pregnant or if you are breast-feeding a baby, as Allegra passes into breast milk. Children younger than 6 years old are not supposed to be treated with Allegra.
Missed Dose -
You should take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Nevertheless, if it is near to the time for your next dose, do not take an extra tablet to catch up for the dose you forgot. Do not take a double dose.
Possible Side Effects -
You should stop taking Allegra and consult with your doctor in case if you got an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives). Such side effects appear rarely and other serious side effects are not likely to appear. Continue taking Allegra and consult with your doctor if you have nausea or an upset stomach. There is a possibility of other less serious side effects to occur.
Storage -
Store Allegra at room temperature from 20° to 25°C (68° to 77°F) in a dry place and out of direct sunlight. It should be kept out of the reach of children.
Overdose -
Signs of Allegra overdose are: dizziness, drowsiness, and dry mouth. These symptoms require emergent medical attention.
More Information -
Tell your doctor if you use MAO inhibitors, certain blood pressure drugs, digoxin, adrenaline-like drugs or other drugs which affect the heart rhythm. Check the drug uses of all medicines which contain antihistamines and decongestants and consult with your doctor. You should not take Allegra for several days before testing of allergy as it may affect test results. You should not take any other medicine without consultation with your doctor.
