Drug Uses -
Antivert is an antihistamine that blocks the effects of the naturally occurring chemical histamine in your body. Antivert treats nausea, vomiting, dizziness associated with motion sickness and vertigo.
How Taken -
Antivert is a regular and chewable tablet and a capsule. For treating motion sickness take one tablet or capsule before traveling and then a tablet or capsule a day if needed. For treating dizziness that was caused by an ear condition you should follow your doctor's prescription carefully. Antivert tablets may be either chewed or swallowed whole.
Warnings/Precautions -
Antivert may cause drowsiness, so be careful when driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities. You should avoid such activities if you experience drowsiness. Antivert increases the influence of alcohol and depressants. There is no reliable data whether Antivert passes into breast milk. Consult with your doctor before taking Antivert if you are breast-feeding a baby.
Missed Dose -
If it is prescribed for you to take Antivert when needed, a missed dose should not bother you. In other cases take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Nevertheless, if it is near to the time for your next dose, do not take an extra tablet to catch up for the dose you forgot. Do not take a double dose.
Possible Side Effects -
Immediate medical at5tention require following side effects: an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, closing of your throat, swelling of your lips, tongue, face or hives). You should not stop taking Antivert when you experience drowsiness, dizziness, a dry mouth (may be relieved by sugarless gum, ice chips, saliva substitutes or other products if bothersome), blurred vision, nervousness, insomnia or constipation. Other side effects may also occur. In this case consult with your doctor.
Storage -
Store at controlled room temperature 15°-30°C (59°-86° F) in a tight, light-resistant containers.
Overdose -
Typical signs of overdosage are unusual excitability, drowsiness, hallucinations, very slow or shallow breathing, seizures. In case if you experience any of these symptoms, seek emergency medical attention immediately.
More Information -
Be careful if you take drugs that cause drowsiness, including antidepressants, alcohol, antihistamines, sedatives (used to treat insomnia), pain relievers, anxiety medicines, and muscle relaxants, as their effects are increased by Antivert. You should first consult with your doctor before taking any other medicine together with Antivert. Antivert is contraindicated to people who suffers from hypersensitivity to it.
