Drug Uses - Aphthasol is used to treat aphthous ulcers (canker sores) and comes as a paste in the mouth.

How Taken - Apply Aphthasol to the canker sore as soon as it was noticed. You should wash your hands carefully each time you Aphthasol. Continue using Aphthasol until the sore is completely treated. In case it is not treated in 10 days, consult with your doctor. Avoid getting Aphthasol in your eyes. If Aphthasol gets in your eyes, wash them with water immediately.

Warnings/Precautions - Consult with your doctor if you are allergic to amlexanox or other substances, such as preservatives or dyes. Amlexanox has not been tested in humans. Nevertheless, tests in animals have not showed that amlexanox effects on an unborn baby.

Missed Dose - You should apply the missed dose as soon as you remember and then follow your usual prescription. Nevertheless, if it is near to the time for your next dose, do not apply the missed dose to catch up for the dose you forgot.

Possible Side Effects - Possible side effects are burning, stinging, or pain on the part that medicine is applied; inflammation of mucous membranes; diarrhea; nausea. These may vanish during treatment as your body becomes accustomed to Aphthasol. Anyway, consult with your doctor if any side effect occurs.

Storage - Aphthasol must be kept out of the reach of children. You should store Aphthasol away from heat and direct light. Do not store Aphthasol in damp places such as bathroom and near the kitchen sink. The medicine breaks down because of heat and moisture.

Overdose - The overdosage of Aphthasol requires immediate medical attention.
