Drug Uses -
Celexa is in a class of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. Celexa active components influence chemicals imbalance in your brain that are causing anxiety and depression.
How Taken -
Celexa is a tablet to be taken orally once a day with or without food. Follow your doctor's prescription carefully. Continue using Celexa until you recover completely.
Warnings/Precautions -
Consult with your doctor if you experience liver or kidney disease, seizures, mania or have suicidal thoughts. You may need special dosage or monitoring. Tell your doctor if you have ever been allergic to Celexa. Celexa is in the FDA pregnancy category C. There is no reliable data whether Celexa is deleterious to an unborn baby. Consult with your doctor if you are pregnant or if you are breast-feeding a baby, as Celexa passes into breast milk.
Missed Dose -
You should take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Nevertheless, if it is near to the time for your next dose, do not take an extra tablet to catch up for the dose you forgot. Wait and take your next tablet at the regular time. Do not take a double dose.
Possible Side Effects -
Typical side effects are nausea, dry mouth, sleepiness and increase in sweating. However, sexual problems in male patients are the most common side effect.
Storage -
Store at room temperature between 15° and 30°C in a dry place.
Overdose -
The most typical symptoms of Celexa overdosage are dizziness, sweating, nausea, vomiting, tremor, somnolence, and sinus tachycardia, amnesia, confusion, coma, convulsions, hyperventilation, cyanosis, rhabdomyolysis, and ECG changes.
More Information -
Celexa may cause drowsiness and dizziness, so be careful when driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities. You should avoid such activities if you experience drowsiness or dizziness. Avoid taking alcohol, as it increases drowsiness and dizziness.
