Drug Uses -
Clarinex is an antihistamine taken in order to relieve the symptoms of hay fever (seasonal allergic rhinitis). Clarinex contains a long-acting tricyclic histamine antagonist with selective H1-receptor histamine antagonist activity.
How Taken -
Clarinex is a tablet to be taken orally once a day with or without food. Use Clarinex exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not change the dosage without medical consultation.
Warnings/Precautions -
You are obliged to tell your doctor if you experience kidney or liver disease, or are allergic to an antihistamine. In this case you may need special dosage or monitoring. It may also happen that you are not able to take Clarinex. Clarinex is in the FDA pregnancy category C. There is no reliable data whether Clarinex is deleterious to an unborn baby. Consult with your doctor if you are pregnant or if you are breast-feeding a baby, as Clarinex passes into breast milk.
Missed Dose -
You should take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Nevertheless, if it is near to the time for your next dose, do not take an extra tablet to catch up for the dose you forgot. Wait and take your next tablet at the regular time. Do not take a double dose.
Possible Side Effects -
Side effects may include: dry mouth, fatigue, sleepiness, sore throat, dizziness, dry throat, flu-like symptoms, muscle pain, nausea, acute allergic reaction, hives, itching, rapid heartbeat, rash, shortness of breath, swelling. Anyway, side effects are not likely to occur in general situation. If you experience any side effect, contact your doctor immediately.
Storage -
Store at room temperature in a tightly closed container away from heat. It should be kept out of the reach of children.
Overdose -
There is no reliable data about Clarinex overdose. However, if an overdose is suspected, seek medical attention immediately. If an overdose occurs, rapid heartbeat, sleepiness may be the symptoms.
More Information -
Clarinex may cause drowsiness or dizziness, so be careful when driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities. You should avoid such activities if you experience drowsiness or dizziness.
