Drug Uses - Denavir comes as a topical antiviral medication used to treat recurrent cold sores (herpes labialis) on the lips and face in adults.

How Taken - Apply Denavir every 2 hours for four days to your cold sore. Use your finger or a cotton swab for application. You should wash your hands carefully after each using of Denavir in order not to allow herpes virus to spread. Avoid contact of the medicine with your eyes.

Warnings/Precautions - Denavir is intended to be used externally on the lips and face only. Denavir is in the FDA pregnancy category B. It is not expected to be detrimental to an unborn baby. You should consult with your doctor before taking Denavir if you are pregnant or could become pregnant during treatment. There is no reliable data whether Denavir is deleterious to a nursing baby. In this case do not use Denavir without medical consultation.

Missed Dose - You should take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Nevertheless, if it is near to the time for your next dose, do not take an extra tablet to catch up for the dose you forgot. Wait and take your next tablet at the regular time. Do not take a double dose.

Possible Side Effects - Serious side effects are not likely to occur because of using Denavir. Continue taking Denavir and consult with your doctor if you have headache; local numbness or tingling where the cream is applied; changes in taste; rash; irritation at the application site. Other side effects may also occur.

Storage - Store at 20°-25°C (68°-77°) away from heat and moisture.

Overdose - Denavir overdosage is not considered to be dangerous. However, if an overdosage is suspected, contact your doctor immediately.

More Information - Denavir should not be used together with another topical medicine to treat the same area as there is no reliable data how Denavir interacts with other topical medicines. Consult your doctor before using another medicine topical.
