Drug Uses -
Detrol LA is used to treat overactive bladder with symptoms of urge urinary incontinence, urgency, and frequency.
How Taken -
Detrol LA is a tablet or long-acting capsule to be taken orally. The tablet should be taken two times a day and the capsule - once a day with water. You should take Detrol LA exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not change the dosage without medical consultation. It is obligatory to swallow Detrol LA capsules whole without chewing, dividing or crushing.
Warnings/Precautions -
You must not take Detrol LA if you experience blockage of the urinary tract (difficulty urinating); or a blockage in the intestines. Consult with your doctor if you suffer from liver disease; kidney disease; or glaucoma. In this case you may need special dosage or monitoring. It may also happen that you are not able to use Detrol LA. Detrol LA is in the FDA pregnancy category C. There is no reliable data whether Detrol LA is deleterious to an unborn baby. Consult with your doctor if you are pregnant or if you are breast-feeding a baby, as Detrol LA passes into breast milk.
Missed Dose -
You should take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Nevertheless, if it is near to the time for your next dose, do not take an extra tablet to catch up for the dose you forgot. Wait and take your next tablet at the regular time. Do not take a double dose.
Possible Side Effects -
Stop taking Detrol LA and seek immediate medical attention if you experience an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives). Continue using Detrol LA and consult with your doctor if you have dry mouth, dryness of the eyes, blurred vision or large pupils, upset stomach, headache, constipation, difficulty urinating, drowsiness, or dizziness. Other side effects may also occur.
Storage -
Store at room temperature from 20° to 25° C (68° to 77° F).
Overdose -
Exact symptoms of Detrol LA overdosage are not known, but if you suffer from restlessness, tremor, irritability, seizures, delirium, hallucinations, flushing, fever, nausea, vomiting, a fast heartbeat or possibly coma, seek immediate medical attention.
More Information -
Detrol LA may cause drowsiness, so be careful when driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities. You should avoid such activities if you experience drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision. Do not take alcohol as it may make your condition worse. Try not to go out if the weather is hot to prevent being overheated. Try to drink more liquids in order to prevent the loss of fluid in your body.
