Drug Uses - Flexeril is a muscle relaxant, taken in order to treat the pain and stiffness of muscle injuries (strains, sprains and spasms). The active ingredient is cyclobenzaprine.

How Taken - Flexeril is 10 mg tablet to be taken orally with food. Usual adult dose is a 10 mg tablet three times a day. Maximum amount of Flexeril usage is 60 mg per day. Do not change the dosage without medical consultation.

Warnings/Precautions - Consult with your doctor if you experience glaucoma, an overactive thyroid gland, heart disease, difficulty urinating, any allergies, if you are pregnant breast-feeding. In this case you may need special dosage or monitoring. It may also happen that you are not able to use Flexeril.

Missed Dose - You should take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Nevertheless, if it is near to the time for your next dose, do not take an extra tablet to catch up for the dose you forgot. Wait and take your next tablet at the regular time. Do not take a double dose.

Possible Side Effects - Taking Flexeril may be the reason of stomach upset, heartburn, constipation, headache, dizziness, drowsiness or dry mouth during the first few days until your body get used to the medication. Consult your doctor if you experience muscle stiffness, skin rash, itching, rapid heart rate, swelling of the face, difficulty urinating. Try not to perform activities that require alertness. Change positions from sitting or lying to standing carefully, as there is risk of dizziness or lightheadedness. Be careful on the stairs.

Storage - Store at 15-30°C (59-86°F). Medicine should be kept out of the reach of children.

Overdose - Seek emergency if you experience difficulty breathing, extreme nervousness or restlessness, flushed skin, hallucination, racing or irregular heartbeat, seizure, shortness of breath, tiredness (extreme), unstable temperature, unusual muscle stiffness, vomiting (in combination with these other symptoms).

More Information - There is the risk of increasing the effects of alcohol, barbiturates, and other CNS depressants while taking Flexeril.
