Drug Uses -
Lamisil Tablets are used to treat onychomycosis of the toenail or fingernail due to dermatophytes.
How Taken -
Lamisil is a tablet to be taken orally once a day for 6 weeks for the treatment of fingernail fungus and once a day for 12 weeks for the treatment of toenail fungus. Take Lamisil as prescribed by your doctor. Do not change the dosage. Fungus is completely treated only in some month after the treatment is over.
Warnings/Precautions -
Do not take Lamisil without medical consultation if you suffer an allergic reaction to it, liver or kidney disease, problems with your immune system, or blood problems. In this case you may need special dosage or monitoring. It may also happen that you are not able to use Lamisil. Lamisil is in the FDA pregnancy category B. It is not expected to be detrimental to an unborn baby. You should consult with your doctor before taking Lamisil if you are pregnant or could become pregnant during treatment. There is no reliable data whether Lamisil is deleterious to a nursing baby. In this case do not use Lamisil without medical consultation.
Missed Dose -
You should take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Nevertheless, if it is near to the time for your next dose, do not take an extra tablet to catch up for the dose you forgot. Wait and take your next tablet at the regular time. Do not take a double dose.
Possible Side Effects -
Stop taking Lamisil and seek medical attention if you experience an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives); a rash; changes in vision; or blood problems (detected by blood tests). Continue taking Lamisil and contact your doctor in case you experience nausea, upset stomach, or heartburn; diarrhea or flatulence; headache; or taste disturbances or a loss of taste. Immediately contact your doctor if you notice the signs of nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, unusual fatigue, loss of appetite, yellow skin or eyes, itching, dark urine, or clay colored stools, as these may be the signs of liver damage. Other side effects may also occur.
Storage -
Store below 25? C (77? F) in a tightly closed container away from light.
Overdose -
If overdosage is suspected, seek immediate medical attention. The most typical signs of Lamisil overdosage are nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dizziness, rash, frequent urination, and headache.
More Information -
Avoid alcohol as it in combination with Lamisil affects the liver. Do not take Lamisil if you hypersensitive to it.
