Drug Uses - Patanol is a drug that helps to eliminate symptoms of allergy in our daily life. It is a liquid to apply by dropping in your eyes to remove itching that you suffer from. Itchy eyes can lead to redness. Currently it does not really matter and does not bother you because of using Patanol.

How Taken - Instill one drop in each affected eye twice a day. The interval between the instillation should be 6 to 8 hours.

Warnings/Precautions - You are not able to use Patanol if you have an eye infection. Firstly it must be treated properly. Consult with your doctor before using spray because this drug can decrease the ability of human body to fight against infections. Patanol is in the FDA pregnancy C. It is not clear whether Patanol is detrimental to an unborn baby. You should consult with your doctor before taking Patanol if you are pregnant or if you are breast-feeding a baby. Do not use Patanol for children younger than 3 years old.

Missed Dose - The missed dose should be taken as soon as you remember.

Possible Side Effects - Serious side effects of Patanol are rare. Immediately seek emergency if you have an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives). In case you have less serious side effects (burning, stinging, irritation, itching, redness, or dryness of the eyes; swollen eyelids; a stuffy or runny nose; headache; or changes in taste) or any other bothersome unusual reactions continue to use Patanol but consult with your doctor.

Storage - Patanol should be stored at temperature from 4°C to 30°C (39°F to 86°F).

Overdose - It is not likely to overdose this medication. In case an overdose is suspected, seek emergency. If Patanol has been taken orally, drink plenty of fluid and call an emergency.

More Information - The dropper must be sterile. Try not to touch any surface, including your eyes or hands with the dropper. In case it becomes contaminated it could infect your eyes. Patanol contains benzalkonium chloride as a preservative. So, if you wear contact lenses take them off before dropping. After instillation wait about 15 minutes after a dose and insert your contact lenses. Avoid using of other eye drops unless your doctor prescribes.
