Drug Uses - Remeron is used for the treatment of major depressive disorder. Remeron usage relieves sadness, worthlessness, or guilt; loss of interest in daily activities; changes in appetite; tiredness; sleeping too much; insomnia; and thoughts of death or suicide.

How Taken - It is necessary to take Remeron regularly. The tablet should be swallowed with water. Starting single dose is 15 mg/day. Remeron is recommended to be taken in the evening prior to sleep.

Warnings/Precautions - Do not use Remeron if you are taking MAO inhibitors or if you have been taking them for at least two weeks before. Talk to you doctor and tell about all the health problems you have had before: liver or kidney disease; a manic-depressive disorder; blood problems; high or low blood pressure or heart disease; a heart attack in the last 6 weeks; or epilepsy or seizures. In such conditions you may not be able to take Remeron or you may require a dosage adjustment or special monitoring during treatment. Remeron is in the FDA pregnancy C. It is not clear whether Remeron will be detrimental to an unborn baby. You should consult with your doctor before taking Remeron if you are pregnant or could become pregnant during treatment or if you are breast-feeding a baby, because it is not known whether Remeron passes into breast milk.

Missed Dose - In case you have missed a dose, take it as soon as you remember the same day. But do not take an extra dose in situation when you forget to take Remeron and it is near the time for the next intake (next day). Wait and take the next dose according to the schedule. Do not double the dose.

Possible Side Effects - In case you have any of the next serious side effects, stop taking Remeron and consult with your doctor immediately or seek emergency: an allergic reaction (swelling of the lips, face, or tongue; difficulty breathing); seizures; a fast or irregular heartbeat; or fever, chills, a sore throat, flu-like symptoms, or sores in your mouth or nose. Less serious side effects are more likely to occur. Continue taking Remeron but consult with your doctor in case you have any of the following less serious side effects or any other bothersome ones: drowsiness; nausea; increase in weight or appetite; dizziness; dry mouth; constipation; or mild tremor.

Storage - Remeron should be stored at controlled indoor temperature 20°- 25°C (68°- 77° F) in a tight light-resistant container.

Overdose - In case you have an overdosage of Remeron, seek emergency. The symptoms of overdose are disorientation, drowsiness, impaired memory, and tachycardia.

More Information - Be careful when driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities because Remeron administration may lead to dizziness or drowsiness. You may have dizziness or actually faint when getting up from a lying or sitting position. Try to get up slowly and if this problem does not disappear consult with your doctor. Taking alcohol is banned while you are taking Remeron, because it has ability to increase drowsiness and dizziness.
