Drug Uses - Renova is indicated to treat wrinkles, brown spots, and surface roughness on the face. It is used to treat acne and effective against stretch marks. After a topical application Renova binds to specific skin cell receptors. After activation, a modification gene expression causes subsequent protein synthesis, cell growth and differentiation. This way epidermal cell produces a greater amount of new skin.

How Taken - Using a gauze pad or cotton swab, Renova should be applied to affected area once a day at bedtime. Do not use this medication more frequently or in excessive amounts. It does not improve the results, but may cause side effects. Do not apply Renova near the eyes, mouth, or open cuts since this medication can irritate sensitive skin. It may happen that acne worsens when the medication is used for the first time. In this case continue therapy. The full benefits of this medication may appear in three to six weeks after therapy has been started. Mild soap should be used while applying Renova because soaps, cleansers, medicated creams or lotions can increase skin irritation. Consult with your doctor which soap should be used. Do not wash the face excessively.

Warnings/Precautions - Renova can increase sensitivity to sunlight, wind and cold. Try to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun and sunlamps. You should wear protective clothing and use an effective sunscreen. Be careful when using Renova while being pregnant. Use Renova only when needed. Consult with your doctor before breast-feeding because it is not clear if Renova appears in breast milk.

Missed Dose - In case you have missed a dose, apply it as soon as you remember. But do not apply an extra dose in situation when you forget to use Remeron and it is near the time for the next dose. Wait and apply the next dose according to the schedule. Do not double the dose.

Possible Side Effects - After Renova is applied, the skin may feel warm or mild stinging, redness of the skin or peeling may occur. These effects should disappear as your skin adjusts to Renova. In other cases stop using the medication. You may also experience itchiness and scaling of the skin. Usually it is connected with excessive applying of Renova.

Storage - Renova should be stored room temperature away from sunlight. Keep it out of the reach of children.

Overdose - An overdose is unlikely to occur. In case an overdose is suspected, seek emergency.

More Information - If you have been previously treated with keratolytic preparations or exfoliants, you should wait until any skin rash clears up before beginning even low strength treatment. The effect of Renova on pregnant women is not known. So, this medication should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed.
