Drug Uses -
Ultracet is a unique drug that helps to relieve moderate, acute pain such as pain following surgical procedures, including dental surgery. Moreover it may be used for other types of pain.
How Taken -
Ultracet is a tablet to be taken orally. It is not recommended to take more than 2 tablets at a time or more than 8 tablets per day. You should swallow the tablets with water. In case Ultracet upsets your stomach, use it with food or milk. Follow the prescription strictly.
Warnings/Precautions -
Do not use Ultracet in case you have had severe allergic reaction to codein before (severe rash, hives, breathing difficulties, or dizziness). If you have difficulty breathing, tightness of chest, swelling of eyelids, face or lips or if you develop a rash or hives, consult with your doctor immediately. Follow prescribed instructions strictly. Do not exceed the recommended dose or period than prescribed. In some cases Ultracet may be habit-forming. Before any medical or dental treatments, emergency care, or surgery, inform the doctor that you are taking Ultracet. In case you have withdrawal symptoms (nervousness, sweating, nausea, diarrhea, tremor, trouble sleeping) consult with your doctor. You should consult with your doctor before taking Ultracet if you are pregnant or could become pregnant during treatment or if you are breast-feeding a baby, as Ultracet passes into breast milk.
Missed Dose -
In case you have missed a dose, take it as soon as possible. But don't take an extra dose in situation when you forget to take a tablet and it is near the time for the next intake. Wait and take the next dose according to the schedule.
Possible Side Effects -
In case you have rare or uncommon side effects consult with your doctor as soon as possible: changes in vision; difficulty breathing, shortness of breath; fast or irregular heartbeat; hallucinations (seeing and hearing things that are not really there); not passing urine as often as usual; redness, blistering, peeling or loosening of the skin, including inside the mouth; skin rash, itching; seizures (convulsions); yellow tint to your skin or whites of your eyes; anxiety, agitation; vomiting.
Continue taking Ultracet in case of you have the next side effects but consult with your doctor: constipation or diarrhea; difficulty sleeping; dizziness, drowsiness; dry mouth; false sense of well being, feeling of unreality, mood changes; headache; indigestion; itching; nausea; sweating or flushing.
Storage -
Ultracet should be stored at indoor temperature 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F) in a container that small children cannot open. It must be kept out of the reach of children. Immediately throw away medicine after the expiration date.
Overdose -
In case an overdose is suspected, seek emergency. Symptoms of an overdose are nausea; vomiting; sweating; difficulty breathing; shallow, weak breathing; and seizures.
More Information -
Be careful when driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities because administration of Ultracet may lead to dizziness or drowsiness. Try to avoid such activities. Taking over-the-counter medicines that contain acetaminophen (Tylenol, pain relievers, cold and flu medicines, others) while taking Ultracet is banned. Do not take too much acetaminophen because it may be harmful. Sleeping pills, tranquilizers, sedatives, and antihistamines may increase drowsiness. Use them only under the supervision of your doctor.
