Drug Uses -
Vaniqa (Cream) is used to reduce unwanted facial hair in women but it is not a depilatory. Vaniqa interacts with an enzyme in the hair follicle of the skin and decreases its activity. This way hair growth becomes slower in areas where Vaniqa is applied. Vaniqa is not a permanent method and you should continue any hair removal technique you are currently using (Vaniqa should be applied at least 5 minutes after hair removal).
How Taken -
A thin layer of Vaniqa Cream should be applied twice a day at least 8 hours apart to affected areas and rubbed in thoroughly. The treated area should not be washed for at least 4 hours. You are allowed to apply cosmetics or sunscreens over treated areas after cream has dried.
Warnings/Precautions -
You are not allowed to use Vaniqa in case you have had allergic reaction to it in the past. Vaniqa is in the FDA pregnancy C. It is not clear whether Vaniqa is detrimental to an unborn baby. You should consult with your doctor before taking Vaniqa if you are pregnant or could become pregnant during treatment or if you are breast-feeding a baby, because it is not known whether Vaniqa passes into breast milk. Do not use Vaniqa for children younger than 12 years old.
Missed Dose -
Take Vaniqa according to the schedule. don't take an extra dose in situation when you forget to take a dose and it is near the time for the next application. Apply the next Vaniqa dose according to the schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.
Possible Side Effects -
Possible side effects of Vaniqa are: temporary redness, stinging, burning, hair bumps, tingling or rash on areas of the skin where it is applied. Less common side effects (less than 1% of the subjects treated with Vaniqa) may include: bleeding skin, cheilitis, and contact dermatitis, swelling of lips, herpes simplex, numbness and rosacea. Adverse effects are usually insignificant and disappear without medical treatment or discontinuation of Vaniqa usage. But in case they persist or are bothersome, you should consult with your doctor.
Storage -
Vaniqa (Cream) should be stored at 25° C (77° F) excursions permitted to 15-30° C (59-86° F). Do not freeze. Immediately throw away medicine after the expiration date.
Overdose -
You are unlikely to have an overdosage of Vaniqa. In case an overdose is suspected, or if the cream has been ingested, seek emergency.
More Information -
Avoid contact with the eyes, nose, or mouth. In case the application gets into your eyes, wash them thoroughly with a lot of water.
