Drug Uses -
Viagra is a unique drug for the treatment of impotence in men. It helps to achieve and maintain a good erection during sexual stimulation. Viagra do not protect from sexually transmitted diseases including HIV (AIDS).
How Taken -
Viagra is a tablet to be taken orally anytime from 4 hours to 30 minutes before sexual activity. Do not take Viagra more than once a day. Follow all the recommendations strictly.
Warnings/Precautions -
Before using Viagra, tell your doctor the next information: if you have had a heart attack, stroke, or life-threatening irregular heartbeats within the last six months; have a history of heart failure; have coronary artery disease; angina; high or low blood pressure; liver or kidney problems; have ever had blood problems, including sickle cell anemia or leukemia; have a bleeding disorder; have a stomach ulcer; retinitis pigmentosa (an inherited condition of the eye); a physical deformity of the penis such as Peyronie's disease; have a condition that could lead to prolonged and painful erections, such as a tumor of the bone marrow, sickle cell anemia, or leukemia; or are taking another medicine to treat impotence. In such conditions you may not be able to take Viagra or you may require a dosage adjustment or special monitoring during treatment. Viagra is not used for women; it is in the FDA pregnancy category B. It is not expected to be detrimental to an unborn baby. Be careful! Viagra is not allowed for women. In case you are over 65 years of age, you may be more likely to have side effects.
Missed Dose -
Viagra is used when necessary. You are unlikely to miss a dose.
Possible Side Effects -
Viagra can cause some side effects. The most common side effects include headache, flushing of the face, and upset stomach. Less common side effects are changes in color vision (such as trouble telling the difference between blue and green objects or having a blue color tinge to them), eyes being more sensitive to light or blurred vision. In rare instances, men have reported an erection that lasts many hours. The effects mentioned above are usually mild to moderate and usually last no longer than a few hours. In rare cases some individuals may have prolonged erection that lasts more than 4 hours. In such cases consult with your doctor immediately, because your penis may be damaged. It has been reported that heart attack, stroke, irregular heartbeats and death in men taking Viagra occur. The majority of them had heart problems before. It is not clear whether Viagra causes such effects.
Storage -
Viagra should be stored at indoor temperature at 25°C (77°F); excursions permitted to 15-30°C (59-86°F). It must be kept out of the reach of children.
Overdose -
The symptoms of an overdosage may include chest pain, dizziness, an irregular heartbeat, and swelling of the ankles or legs. In case an overdose is suspected, seek emergency.
More Information -
Do not take Viagra if you are taking any medicines that contain nitrates (regularly or as needed), because it may greatly decrease your blood pressure. You may experience dizziness, faint or even a heart attack or stroke. Nitrates are components of many medicines that are used to treat angina. Use Viagra only under medical supervision. Do not share Viagra with anyone else. Using Viagra for newborns, children, or women is banned.
