Drug Uses - Zyban is known as a drug to persons who are giving up smoking.

How Taken - Zyban is a tablet to be taken orally twice a day. It may be taken as with or without food. It is obligatory to swallow it whole without chewing, dividing or crushing.

Warnings/Precautions - Zyban administration is banned if you have taken a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) in the last 14 days. Zyban is in the FDA pregnancy category B. It is not expected to be detrimental to an unborn baby. You should consult with your doctor before taking Zyban if you are pregnant or could become pregnant during treatment. There is no reliable data whether Zyban is deleterious to a nursing baby. In this case do not use Zyban without medical consultation.

Missed Dose - Take Zyban regularly. don't take an extra dose in situation when you forget to take a tablet. Wait and swallow next pill according to the schedule. Be careful and not exceed prescribed dosage. It is significant to decrease the probability of having a seizure.

Possible Side Effects - Zyban has several side effects. This is not complete list of side effects and for more reliable information you should consult with your doctor. It is reported that in some cases Zyban alone or in combination with nicotine replacement therapy (a nicotine patch) may cause severe hypertension (high blood pressure). Among most common side effects dry mouth and difficulty sleeping can be defined. But usually they are mild and vanish after a few weeks. Try not to take Zyban close to bedtime if you have difficulty sleeping. Shakiness and skin rash can also appear. Stop taking Zyban if you have allergic reaction such as rash, hives, or difficulty in breathing. In this situation it is obligatory to talk to your doctor because it is almost impossible to predict a following reaction: whether a mild rush will develop into a more serious allergic reaction. If you have the first signs of allergy such as a skin rash, hives, fever, swollen lymph glands, and painful sores in the mouth or around the eyes, or swelling of lips or tongue, tell a doctor immediately.

Storage - Store Zyban at room temperature in a tightly closed container and out of direct sunlight. It must be kept out of the reach of children.

Overdose - The Zyban overdose needs emergency. The typical signs of overdosage are seizures, hallucinations, loss of consciousness, weakness, a fast heartbeat, and heart attack.

More Information - Try not to take strong drinks while taking Zyban because alcohol may elevate the risk of having a seizure. In case you drink a lot of strong drinks, consult with your doctor before giving up. Be careful when driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities because Zyban administration may lead to dizziness or drowsiness.
